A few photo’s

The photo’s from Monday’s session are back! The photographer stated that the lighting wasn’t really good enough for a lot of the shots, but I’ve asked for some pictures anyway to post. He said he would be back with his camera within the next several weeks to take some more!

Class Structure – 2018

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Training resumes on Monday, 8 January 2018, at 5.45pm.

Following an extended period of running two separate classes (one for our ‘mixed’, Juniors & Seniors, and one for Seniors only), I have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Seniors only class for the foreseeable future.

The ‘mixed’ class of Juniors & Seniors will continue of a Monday evening, starting at 5:45pm and finishing at 7pm.

Potential students are welcome to join the school from ages 7 plus.  There is no upper age limit – as long as you have a general fitness level, you are welcome to trial us.

Current students – please ensure that you attend classes in your full uniform, consisting of school t-shirt, black Kung Fu cuffed trousers, and sash.  Please ensure that long hair is tied back, and no accessories are worn in the hair.  No jewellery is allowed on any student, unless covered by plasters.  Please ensure that all mobile phones are switched to silent, or turned off.  If you need to have access to your mobile phone during class, please speak to Master Ai Aimi before class commences, due to any possible interruptions to the session.

Peewee Class

After a trial period of running a separate class for our “PeeWee” students, ages 4, 5 and 6 years olds, we regret to say that this has not had a successful outcome.  We have therefore decided to return to our previous schedule, of the mixed and adults only classes, starting with immediate affect.

Mixed / Family Class – 17:45-19:00.  For ages 7 to adult.  No upper age limit.

Adults Only Class – 19:00-20:00.  For ages 16 plus.

Class Shuffle & Schedule

Please note that all classes have been cancelled for the summer period, ready for a new season, and a “shuffle”, starting 4 September 2017.

17:00 to 17:45

Our Tiny Tigers and Little Dragons class is for our youngest students, ages 4, 5 and 6 year olds.

Here we focus on good manners, improving hand-eye coordination, balance, control, confidence, respect, self-discipline and working together.  We also like to teach the importance of “Stranger Danger”, and what to do if a stranger attempts to make contact.

We usually touch on the very basics of self-defence and Kung Fu training, such as how to fall properly (breakfalls), how to stand in stance, the correct way to punch a focus mitt, and the difference between a front and side snap kick.

This is a mixed class of both Juniors and Seniors.

Our Juniors start from age 7, and focus on the fundamentals of self-defence and Kung Fu, whilst ensuring all students learn a high level of respect and self-discipline.  There is a lot of team-building exercises, and Juniors are encouraged to work closely with the Seniors in the class, to help them work well with all ages.

Our Seniors usually start from the age of 16, however some Seniors may be younger at the discretion of Master Ai Aimi.  In the past, we  have had some younger people be treated as a Senior student, due to their height.  Senior students focus on self-defence, Kung Fu, forms and weapons studies; whilst increasing fitness and endurance levels.

Costs:  £5 per student, per class

This is an adults only class, for ages 15 plus.

It is fast-paced, focused and fitness based. Self-defence, Kung Fu, weapons, Chi and more.

Costs:  £5.00 (all students)

If you are an adult attending our mixed Juniors and Seniors class, you can take advantage of training in the adults only class, immediately after the family class for just £2.50 extra.  That’s both classes for only £7.50!

Once again, classes in the above format will return on Monday 4 September 2017.  In the meantime, if you require any further details, please do not hesitate in contacting us in the usual ways.

Training dates

Shi’hing Kung Fu’s family classes will resume this evening, at 5:45pm-7:00pm.

Due to personal circumstances, we have postponed the return of our adults only classes, which are usually run from 7:00pm-8:00pm of a Monday, until the first week in October.

Watch this space for any updates.

Special Event… Mon 22 Aug 2016

On Monday, 22 August 2016, we have decided to run a short, special event… An inspiring online challenge for amputee British soldiers to film themselves doing push-ups to raise awareness about military suicide has gone viral.

This Monday will be our first of the new season and the new lesson layout.

During warm-up, we will take just a few minutes to take part in this challenge, where the event will be recorded as we do a synchronised #22PushUps.  The video will then be uploaded to our facebook page, youtube, and this site.

For the full details of what has been going on, you can read what The Mirror had to sayby clicking here:  #22PushUps
